Advance Wars 1 - Weather Effects

While there are only three different weather states in AW1- clear, rain and snow. The latter two can come along randomly should one choose to set a map to have random weather, and they can also be induced by CO Powers.
Below are brief explanations of the weather, and the effect it has in battle.

1. Clear

There's nothing special to say about clear weather. It's the default weather for the game, and as such the stats are the base movement costs throughout the game (when ignoring all penalties/benefits given by CO stats).
Nell's CO Power in Field Training actually causes the snow Olaf creates with his power in mission 12 to clear, despite how her CO Power is completely different in the other modes of the game.


2. Rain

Rain causes movement costs to increase for the tread and tire movement classes in woods and on plains.
Units under Drake's command are not affected by rain; his CO Power also causes it to rain.
Also, units under Olaf's command are affected by rain more than units under command for other COs.

3. Snow

Snow causes movement costs to increase for at least one movement type on any type of terrain, and as you'll see below, causes more trouble than rain.
When it is snowing, units under Olaf's command can move as if it was clear weather. His CO Power also causes it to snow for a turn.
On the other hand, units under Drake's command when it is snowing cannot move as much as units normally can under other CO's when it is snowing.
